Mystery of Golden Lanka

Once upon a time, Goddess Parvati got bored while living in caves and caves. Two small children and all kinds of inconveniences. He told his plight to Lord Shankar and requested that like other gods, he should also build a small palace for himself.

Shankar ji understood what he said. Vishwakarma Maharaj, the most capable architect of the universe, was called. First the map was prepared, then after the Bhoomi Pujan at the auspicious time, the work started at a fast pace. After all, the palace belonged to Shankar and Parvati, so it was not to be anything ordinary. *The huge palace is like an entire city, like a unique work of art, like heaven on earth. The producers were also modest! Vishwakarma had put all his energy into giving shape to his imagination. Kuber, the lord of all the golden zodiac signs, was with him. He completed the remaining deficiency by covering this grand abode of Shiva with gold.

There was cheering in all three worlds. A unique city was built that had never existed before anywhere on earth. There was no limit to the joy of Ganesha and Kartikeya. Parvati was overjoyed, there was only one worry who should be entrusted with the task of performing the housewarming puja in this unique palace? That Brahmin should also be of the same level as the palace. He took advice from Lord Shankar. After much thought, Lord Shankar suggested a name — Maharishi Vishrava.

The one who created a stir in the entire world with his knowledge, wisdom, discretion, and study, who had the power to travel to all the three worlds, who pleased many gods with his continuous penance, and whose fame was spreading prosperity in ten directions, is like this Muni Vishrava was invited from Sri Lanka to this palace built on Mount Kailash for the Griha Pravesh puja. The sage gladly accepted his arrival and at the right time he appeared for the housewarming havan with all the auspicious omens and talismanic objects.

The housewarming puja was supernatural. The best men and women of the three worlds were present in their best glory. The air was resounding with the sounds of Vedic hymns, the drops of water falling from the wind were purifying the atmosphere. The remaining impurities were being consumed by the flames rising from the sacred bonfire. On completion of this unique ritual, Mother Parvati, filled with joy after feeding the guests, asked the Brahmin to ask for Dakshina.

“You are not only my mother but also the mother of the entire world, Mother Gaura, what kind of Dakshina is there from you?” Sage Vishrava became the epitome of humility.

“No Vipravar, no ritual is complete without Dakshina and with your arrival the beauty of the entire festival has become indescribable, you can ask for anything as per your wish, Lord Shiva will definitely please you.” Parvati said with insistence.

“I don’t want to trouble you, mother. I have achieved a lot without even asking. What more do I want than seeing you?” Vishrava said more politely.

“This is your greatness, but Dakshina is necessary to fulfill the ritual. You can ask for whatever you want, we will respect you fully.” Parvati requested again.

“I feel hesitant, Devi.” Vishrava said with his eyes down.

“Leave hesitation and think about the completion of the Yagya, Vipravar.” Parvati reminds Neeti.

Pausing for a moment, Vishrava said, “If you are really happy with my worship, if you really want to satisfy me and if Lord Shiva really has the power to give everything as Dakshina, then please give me this city of gold.

Parvati was stunned for a moment! But Lord Shankar, sitting peacefully nearby, said in an unperturbed and steady voice — Amen. Vishrava’s happiness knew no bounds. On the request of Lord Shiva, Vishwakarma lifted this city from Mount Kailash and established it in Sri Lanka.

Since then, Lanka became known as gold and Vishrava’s clan started falling below the divine qualities and drowning in worldly desires. The desire for any palace did not arise in Parvati’s mind again. So much virtue was accumulated from this donation that he and his children never faced any trouble in the caves.
