The fast that gives birth to a child with amazing effect: Payovrat

There is a provision in the scriptures for men and women who wish to have a child with wonderful influence, to observe Payovrat. It satisfies God, hence its name is also ‘Sarvayagya’ and ‘Sarvavrata’. This is done in the Shukla Paksha of Phalgun month. In this one has to live only by drinking milk.

The fasting person should follow celibacy during the fasting days.

Sleep by spreading a carpet or blanket on the ground or remove the mattress and pillow and sleep on a plain bed.

The fasting person should take a bath all three times.

Do not lie and give up pleasures.

Do not cause pain to any living being.

Listen to Satsang, bhajan-kirtan, praise-recitation, and chant Gurumantra or Bhagwannaam as much as possible.

Worship Sadgurudev with devotion considering him as the omnipresent form of God and praise him: ‘Lord! You are almighty. All beings reside in you and you reside in all beings. You are latent and extremely subtle. You are the witness of everything. I salute you.’

Can be done from one day before (10th March) till the end of the fast (20th March):

Worship God or Sadguru with Dwadshakshar Mantra (Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevay) and chant one rosary of this mantra. If you have the capacity, then offer rice cooked in milk mixed with ghee and jaggery and burn the same with local cow dung and perform Havan with Dwadshakshar Mantra. (Use a small quantity of jaggery along with milk for Naivedya.) Distribute Naivedya in small quantities among the devotees. If possible, feed Kheer to two non-addicted, virtuous Brahmins. Eat kheer on Amavasya day (10th March). Make the following resolution on 11th March and drink only milk till 20th March.

Resolution: Mam Sakalgunganavristha importance

sampannayushmatputrapraptikamanaya Vishnupreetye payovratamah karishye.

On the next day after the end of the fast (on 21st March), the Satvik Brahmin and the guests should be served pure, Satvik food as per their capacity. The destitute, blind, and helpless people should also be satisfied with food, etc. When everyone has eaten, consider their hospitality as a means of pleasing God, and then eat with your brothers and sisters. By observing this fast in this manner, God becomes pleased and fulfills the wishes of the person observing the fast.
